Jerry Theodore Braziell, 87, of Hazleton passed away Tuesday morning at his residence surrounded by his loving family following a battle with advanced Parkinson's disease.
Born in Allentown on July 23, 1935, he was the son of the late Edwin and Esther (Lehr) Braziell, and had spent the past 47 years in Hazleton after moving from Allentown.
Jerry graduated from Muhlenberg College with a bachelor's degree in accounting then became a CPA. He worked for PPL and retired as a customer service manager. Jerry loved boating and fishing at his cottage on Lake Ontario.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his youngest daughter, Danielle Dembroski; a brother, Edwin Braziell; and a sister, Fay Unger.
Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Shirley (Stitzer) Braziell, to whom he was married on Feb. 18, 1956; two daughters, Pam Ferrence and her husband, Mark, Hazle Twp.; Renee Kokinda and her husband, Richard, White Haven; son-in-law, Maurice Dembroski, Weatherly; 14 grandchildren, Jerrod, Ashleigh, Cody, Jamie, Jocelyn, Jimmy, Jesse, Ethan, Justine, Chelsea, Kevin, Tyler, Tray and Cheyenne; and 11 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Jayden, Cecelia, Jaxon, Elijah, Jayke, Maddox, Mason, Zola, Jade and Bo.
His memorial service will be held at noon Friday from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of service Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations in Jerry's name may be made to the Hazleton Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 481, Hazleton, PA 18201.
