Bernadette Van Ben Coten Obituary
Age 94 of Horseheads, NY passed away on Sunday February 8, 2015. She was born on June 25, 1920 in Clayville, NY the daughter of the late James and Flora Palmater Harrigan. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's School of Nursing. Bernadette was a retired Registered Nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira, NY. She was pre-deceased by her husband Jerome John Van Ben Coten; son Jerome Thomas Van Ben Coten; sister Joan Shinal; granddaughter Linnea (Troccia) Klossner. Bernadette is survived by her daughters: Sharon (Don) Reidy and Maureen (Jim) Troccia; sons James Michael Van Ben Coten John Joseph Van Ben Coten; 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; very special nephew Paul Shinal and special niece Dawn Beck. Relatives and friends are invited to A Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday February 12 at St. Peter and Paul's Church in Elmira, NY at 12 Noon with the Rev. Rick Farrell officiating. Internment will be at St. Peter and Paul's Cemetery in Elmira, NY. Arrangements are entrusted to the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS, NY.

Sharon and Maureen, I will always remember how nice your Mom was to me when I was 6 and in the hospital, she was my night nurse. I think she is the reason I always liked red hair. She was always a beautiful person, smiling and upbeat. I am so sorry for your loss. She's smiling on you from heaven.
