Jane Wisbey Obituary
Age 67 of North St. Horseheads and long time resident of Albany was united with her Lord and Savior on Fri. June 23, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital. Jane was born Feb. 18, 1950 in Long Branch, NJ. She was predeceased by her father, the late Dr. Herbert A. Wisbey Jr., Professor Emeritus at Elmira College and is survived by her mother, Adelia Wisbey of Horseheads; brothers and sister, Thomas (Karen) Wisbey of Eliot, ME,
Susan Van Alst of New Paltz , NY, Peter (Sarah) Wisbey of Rochester, NY; Nieces and nephews, Kenneth (Nadine) Van Alst, James (Eileen) Van Alst, Laura (Nathan Harl) Van Alst; Jonathan, Kate, Anna and Julia Wisbey; Grand nephews, Amon, Angelo, and Marshall Van Alst; And a host of dear friends and co workers. Jane was a graduate of Horseheads High School class of 1968 and graduate of both EBI and Elmira College.
Jane was a long time resident of Albany where she was employed as a case worker with the Department of Social Services working with special needs adults. She was a devoted daughter, sister and very special aunt. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Wed. June 28, 2017 from 5-7:00 pm. Her service will be celebrated in the First Presbyterian Church 2943 Westinghouse Rd. Horseheads on Thurs at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Elmira.

I went to Elmira College with Jane. I was just Googling her and was saddened to find that she had passed away. I have very fond memories of her.

Jane and I met in 1972 when we worked together. We became friends the first day . Although 18 years ago, I moved 2000 miles away, our friendship lasted all of these years.
She was selfless. She always put the needs of others before her own. Our love for eachother was was nourished and strengthened with our shared love of our Lord.
When I didn't Get my birthday phone call, I knew in my heart why I didn't hear her sweet voice that day.
Today I gathered my courage and found that my dear friend is now joyously with her Saviour. That knowledge takes the some sting out of the deep loss I feel.
My sincere condolences to the Wisbey family.
