Merrill Terwilliger Obituary
Age 88 of Horseheads, NY passed away peacefully at home Jan. 25, 2017. He was born in Elmira Sept. 1, 1928 to Melvin and Frances (Merrill) Terwilliger. Twig was predeceased by his wife, Marlene (Miller) Terwilliger in 1997. He is survived son and daughters, Stephen (Regena) Terwilliger of LaVerne TN, Marilyn (John) Mullen of Big Flats, NY, Carol Patterson of Horseheads, NY; grandchildren, Stephen Baker, Cheyenne and Tyler (Hannah) Koning, Mardee Rafferty, Michael (Jennifer) Mullen and Craig (Meghan) Mullen, Stephanie (Gonzalo) Galeano and Sara (Ian) Shilling; great grandchildren, Nicholai, Sophia, Benjamin, Rosalie, Gavin, Shawn, Collin, Caroline, Makaylah and Conner; his special angel on earth, Betty Empson and many lodge members and friends. Twig retired from Corning Inc. as a machinist. He was active in Boy Scouts, member of Golden Eagles, Horseheads Elks, Moose and Horseheads lodge #364 F.& A.M. He was also an avid musician 'Twig Terwilliger Trio" and drummer. Family and friends are invited to call at the Barber Funeral Home 413 S. Main St. Horseheads on Sunday Jan. 29, 2017 from 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm. His Masonic and funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial in Maple Grove Cemetery. www.barberfuneralhome.com Notice: Officers and members of Horseheads Old Oak Lodge #364 F. & AM will gather at the Barber Funeral Home on Sunday at 2:00 pm to conduct a memorial service for their departed brother.

To Twig's Family - My condolences. My father played many dance jobs with Twig and I have good memories of them making music together. Twig's toast at my wedding and many other weddings "May you live as long as you want to and want to as long as you live" was great advice. Here's to you Twig!

We have very fond memories of many Christmas Eve visits from Santa! The kids always looked forward to Santa stopping in singing, ringing the bells, sitting on his lap and asking for their wish lists! He was a great friend to our parents and will never be forgotten! RIP Twig!

I have fond memories visiting the Terwilligers, the home of my college roommate Marilyn. Mr. Terwilliger was very humorous and we had fun listening to the Twig Terwilliger Trio. So sorry for your loss.

My sincere condolences to the Terwilliger family for the passing of Twig. I only had the pleasure of knowing him for the past couple years when he and (my mom) Betty became best friends.....his memory will be with our family forever........so sorry
