Paul "Sonny" Jr.
Age 69, of Skyline Dr., Montour Falls, NY, passed away Friday, January 15, 2010, at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira. Friends and family may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010, at the Haughey-Wood Funeral Home, 119 Fifth St., Watkins Glen. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 23, 2010, at St. Mary's of the Lake Church in Watkins Glen. Interment will be at Montour Cemetery in Montour Falls. Sonny was born in Montour Falls, NY on August 4, 1940, the son of the late Paul and Marie Barber, Sr. Paul was a self-employed farmer, and had driven trucks and school buses, and ran a produce stand. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, was a member of the Skyline Hunting Club, the Future Farmers of America, the Mechanics Club, enjoyed dancing, going to auctions, and loved taking trips in the spring to Florida. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Joseph James Barber. Sonny is survived by his wife, Linda Barber; his children, Michael Barber, James (Jessie Myers) Barber, David (Marcia Crout) Barber, Lee Ann Barber, Tammy (Al Summers) Barber, and Joseph (April Mace) Barber; grandchildren, Errick, Brennon, Mahalamae, Anna, Trace, and Jayden; sisters, Betty (Stan) Landon, Mary Jane (Mike) Harnas; brother, Ernie Barber; special uncle, James Barber; special aunt, Anna Sgrecci; cousins, Henry and Patty Sgrecci; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; his special friends, Bill Yaw, John Chassion, Gerry Purvis, Larry Rinker, Pat Bartholomew, and Ed Perry; and many close personal friends too numerous to mention. To all the Barber family, Paul will be greatly miss for all his little things that he did ,he would visit my mom and that meant a lot to her. My dad and Paul are good friends, and we all will miss him. And as for me I lost a great dance partner, I will always remember his smile and how he was full of the devil on the dance floor at Johnsons .Our Prayers are with you.
