Aunt Eleanor, Renee, Laura and Rollie, on behalf of the Oprysko family, I want to extend my sincere condolences on the passing of Uncle Rollie. To this day, I can think back to the many trips and visits to Union Springs as a kid still very appreciative of your hospitality. I hope Uncle Rollie told you I ran into at a Syracuse/Virginia Tech football game back in 2003/2004 at the Carrier Dome. A friend and I happened to be walking around the university prior to the game and out of nowhere ran into Uncle Rollie and a friend. At the time I think it had been over 15 years since the last time I had seen any of you. May god bless you during these difficult times.

To Coach Rollie's family our deepest sympathy. He was a wonderful man. Friendly and always concerned about his students even when we were married and had children of our own, who he would also take the time to coach. A very kind and giving man our family will remember always.

A fond farewell and thank-you to Coach Devore, and condolences to the family. He made phys. ed. and track team fun, mostly by treating us like adults. For those who wanted to excel, he was right there to work with you, and for those who wanted to blend in or remain in the background, he made you feel okay with that, too. He positively influenced thousands of adolescent lives -- what a great legacy.

Coach DeVore made gym class fun and relaxed. In fact, we'd sneak in from study halls to play soccer, basketball and softball in a fun environment, accompanied by Rollie's razor-sharp wit. I'm sure he was an amazing father, too, because his kids are the best. Rest in peace, Rollie. You've touched a lot of hearts.

To Rollie's Family
I cannot express my love of coach. I still quote him in my daily life. He was more than a coach, he was a model of the love of teaching. I am sorry that I cannot visit you during this time, but I hope Rollie would be happy that I'm volunteering with sports at USCS just like he would have expected me to do.
I am so saddened, strength to all of you through this time.

Thanks coach. The 30 years you devoted to the kids of USCS, enriched the lives of thousands. I consider myself fortunate to have been one of them.

Coach DeVore has been a mentor and I am sincerely grateful for the life lessons that he has taught me. Coach DeVore's patience, knowledge, enthusiasm, and dedication to his students has been extraordinary. Coach DeVore was a very kind man and he would help you with any task. He could also have the gift of carrying on conversations on any topic! :)I would often visit his PE classes coming from study halls. I would also visit him during lunch which was often in the basement with the custodians. I now have the yearbook out and I am observing his picture and his long message to me. The end of the passage states, "If you need a friend, feel free to call". I am currently a teacher and coach. I hope I can continue to work with athletes in a way that was modeled by a Coach DeVore. I currently have a picture of Coach DeVore and myself hanging on my wall. As my yearbook becomes prone to having the pages get sticky from the tears and the computer screen appears blurry, I want to thank Coach DeVore for being such as asset to the Union Springs community and having such an incredible family.
Sincerely,
John Lawler

To all the Devore's
My memories of PE, fishing, hunting and being coached by "Coach" are vivid. As the years passed and we became more like friends the times were great. Hang in there...he's probably building a new front porch in heaven and there is no rush.

From that first day you walked into the office of the Union Springs Central School to take your position of Physical Education teacher to the last day of your life, you will always be remembered as a true and great friend. I only worked with Rollie for about 8 years but our friendship lasted for 50 plus years. Good Bye my friend.
