Carl Coursey Pippin Jr.

1963 - 2022

Carl Coursey Pippin, Jr. of Sudlersville, MD died on November 5, 2022 at home with family members after a battle with a recently diagnosed illness. He was 59 years old. Carl is survived by his wife Deborah Pippin (Peirano) and their daughters Laura Hayden Pippin and Helen Jean Pippin. Carl is also survived by his step-father Conrad Levesque as well as his much loved brother and sister-in-laws, nephews, nieces, and many friends whom he also considered family.

Carl was born in Mannington Township, New Jersey on June 17, 1963. He was the son of the late Carl Coursey Pippin Sr. and the late Shirley Alice Pippin (Staner). He was a 1981 National Honor Society graduate of Salem High School. He received his Associates in Science degree in Business Management in 1984 from Salem Community College Carneys Point, NJ. He met his wife Deborah in 1986, married in 1992, and they moved from New Jersey to Maryland in 1994.

Carl was employed as a sales associate for Sparkle Pools Inc. at their Chestertown store location for the last seven years; a job which he really enjoyed. Prior, he was a stay-at-home dad caring for his daughters and managing the household for over fourteen years. In the years prior, he had a variety of jobs, ranging from working as a residential chimney sweep and air duct cleaner and for several years prior to that he was assistant manager for a large Marine Supply store in Glasgow, Delaware.

He was an avid boater and grew up enjoying cruising, fishing, and crabbing the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries with his parents. Carl's own family now shares in this joy. Carl also had a passion for gardening, making wonderful soups and chili, loved playing cards and shooting pool, and was a huge James Bond and Original Star Trek series fan. He enjoyed vacationing annually with family in Wildwood Crest on the Jersey Shore in the summer and taking trips to Disney World with his girls. Carl was also well known for enjoying bringing in the Christmas season and went all out every year decorating the inside and outside of his home including setting up a large Christmas village complete with a running train. He was a member of the Chestertown Elks Lodge #2474.

Carl loved talking with people and was always genuinely concerned about them and their wellbeing. Carl will be immensely missed, and always loved.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 19 at 11:00 am at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home in Chestertown. A visitation will be held one hour prior from 10:00 am - 11:00 am at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial donations may be made to the Church Hill Volunteer Fire Company (316 Main St, Church Hill, MD 21623), Compass Regional Hospice (160 Coursevall Dr, Centreville, MD 21617), or to a local charity of your choice.
