He was a very important person in my life. He had always put a smile on my face and loved to to things that I had enjoyed. He had a lovely smile and deserved to live longer. He had always wished that one day when I was old enough that he wanted me to visit him. We both had wished that we could see each other more, sadly we where to far away. I had wished we could see each other and know lots more before he sadly past. I hope that one day I can see the wonderful smile on his face again. I love you very much poppop and I hope to see you again one day.

Very odd I had some time this am and was looking through Linkedin and decided to see if I could locate Pat and/or John. I worked with them (especially Pat) back in the early 90s and havent had contact since. Sadly, I stumbled across Johns passing. He was a pioneer in the environmental business. My thoughts and prayers are with you Pat. I would love to catch up if you ever have a minute. My contact is 270-933-6600 and [email protected]

Aunt pat,
When I first heard of my uncles passing, I was truly shocked. I also felt a sense of guilt as I was deployed with the Navy and was unable to be there for my family in a time of grieving. But I began to realize that my uncle would've understood. As a service member himself, he understood the nomadic lifestyle of a service member. From a young age I can remember being inspired by my Uncle's stories from his time in the US Army. I can remember our trips to Camp Lejune and being in awe of what I saw. He was a huge driving factor in my decision to serve. I will be forever thankful for that. My uncle John was a great role model, a great leader and a great man. He will be missed dearly.

John Mazur was a great guy. I met him first when we both worked at the Army Environmental Hygiene Agency in Edgewood, MD in the mid-70s. John was an army officer newly assigned to our lab and was my immediate boss when I was there as a civilian employee. John was very intelligent AND he was also very smart. John was very honest. John was very gregarious and got folks working together. John was not ever vindictive. John made our work group function very well for our assigned tasks and was well-liked by all.
Over the years after his military service, John and I also interacted as consulting professionals in the Industrial hygiene field, but through different firms, working on similar assignments for our clients. I always felt I could safely share information with John on a professional level to advance the needs of both our clients. Many times we had friendly interactions both professional and personal. John represented to me a good friend and a trusted colleague. In addition to our professional contacts John and I were social friends who occasionally met for a get-together at professional meetings.
I am sad to learn of Johns early demise (I am older than he), but I know his star is still shining above!

Aunt Pat,
Im so grateful you and Uncle John have had the presence in our lives that youve had. All of the summers spent with him, walking the dogs and spending days at the beach will always have a special place in my heart. I remember always having Uncle John pick apart my blue crabs for me on the back porch because it was too gross for my liking. He will always be in my heart - and I love you, Aunt Pat!

I met John a few years ago. I found out he was born in Highlandtown, not far from my dad. He later resided in Va, across the street from my uncle. It is a small world,, so we got along well from the start. John was the same age as my father and had similar attitudes in politics and religion. Every Friday, I would hear the familiar Hey Kim, that would come from the office, when I would come in the front door. It isn't the same in there anymore without him, sitting in the chair waving Hi to me.i will miss him alot.

We had the distinct privilege of knowing John as a patient at our doctor's office. The entire staff thought so much of him. He always came in with a smile and greeted us as if we were some of his closest friends. He loved to laugh, and loved to talk. He will always be remembered as the kind individual that he was. Condolences to his dear wife and children. Dr. Steve Wallace and staff

John was a kind, warm spirit with a good sense of humor. During Shawn and my younger years, Pat and John were next door neighbors and like family for us. Im grateful for their loving, supportive influence in our lives. I know if Mom were still around, her heart would be hurting today. Instead, Im sure she and John are smiling down on us. Its fitting that they will be neighbors again, once John is laid to rest in Arlington. Rest In Peace, John.

Pat,
Both Don and I are so saddened to hear of John's passing and are thinking of you today (and always). We have had so many wonderful times that we shared over the years and always enjoyed John's humor and wit (except when dinner time rolled around and it wasn't ready)!
Our memories will always keep John in our heart as we find ways to cope with the loss of a cherished friend. The holidays, weddings, birthdays and so many other times we had over the years will always be some of the most memorable times we've had.
I so remember the first thing out of John's mouth every year at Thanksgiving when he walked in our door was no giblets in the gravy Kim. Don's favorite was when I needed water chestnuts on holiday morning and he called John who only asked if we needed them sliced or whole and what size can!! He always kept a healthy larder. Then we had the slew of black birds coming in through the oven vent and Don's solution with spraying the pepper to get them out of your kitchen as they just kept coming back in every time we got them out. Lest we not forget the bat in the house that John said could spend the evening as he wanted to go to bed and Pat wouldn't hear of it and sent out an SOS to us. Or moving Phyllis (the ficus tree) from the loft to the deck and back again each year which was a task!! Then there were the shopping trips as we were busy decorating our new homes and John's chagrin when the car came back filled to the hilt! So many happy events and occasions we have shared that will truly be missed.
We know God is now taking care of John and has welcomed him into his kingdom. May he rest in peace as we keep fond memories alive in our hearts.

Pat and Family: It is with a heavy heart that I write this. John gave me much professional and personal advice through my early marriage and child-raising years. He made me a better man. I still use many of his points of advice..."Stand closer to the razor next time!" "Always keep a business card in your wallet!" "Smile...!"
I marked "co-worker" but he was a friend, leader, teacher, and much more.
I'm sure John would agree with this quote from Dr. Seuss..."Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."
My wife Michelle and son Brady (22 years old) send our deepest sympathy and regrets for not being able to drive down to the services. Life is hectic for our family these days. Please know that I will be thinking about John this weekend and he will always have a special place in my heart as he did in my life.
(Pat, I know you appreciate me typing than see my handwriting...you also helped me in many ways and I thank you for that.)

Pat and Family,
I'm so sorry to hear about John's passing. He was a good man and will be sorely missed by so many people. My first memory of him was my first interview right out of college. He had a great 'command voice', and I got to hear it many times after I was hired at PES. Usually it was something like "Williams! Where's Williams!" He taught us youngsters so much, and I'll always be so grateful to him for that. He truly cared about what happened to employees and co-workers, and I think he really enjoyed seeing them succeed in their careers and in life. We all need people like John in our lives. God bless you and your family.

I am truly sorry to hear about John's passing. To me, he was a mentor who taught me much about environmental, health, and safety consulting, and for that I am eternally grateful. He taught me and many others how to write a technical report through his painstaking reviews, and it is a skill that serves me well to this day. He launched many careers the federal government is a Whos Who of former PES employees, including the State Department, FEMA, DOE and NIH. My favorite expressions of Johns included, Im giving you pearls of wisdom and You verbose bast@rd. To Pat and Johns family, I offer my deepest condolences. John was a good man, and he is very much respected by me and his former PES colleagues.

John is going to be missed. While we have not known each other for very long we were strongly bonded by his and Pat's newest family member, Molly. As Molly's breeder, John would give me frequent updates on her progress and her "bad" behavior. He'd say, "Well Shelley, she's up to her 9th remote control!". Molly liked chewing on the remotes, as well as John's shoes, his favorite kitchen towel, and his wallets. But John loved Molly, he never gave up on her and it shows by how well she has grown up.
John, I am going to miss our email communications, our brief chats on the phone, and our meetings at exit 364. You were such a delight and we are so lucky to have known you. We will be sure to make Molly a champion in honor of you.

Pat and family,
I was so sad to hear about John passing away. I am so sorry for your loss. He was a good friend and co-worker. I very much missed him when he retired. He was a great industrial hygienist and was always willing to answer questions or bounce ideas off of. He had a great sense of humor and always good for a lot of laughs when we met up at company meetings and the American Industrial Hygiene conferences. He will be missed.
