William "Bill" Bordeaux

1937 - 2016

WILLIAM BORDEAUX "BILL" William James Bordeaux, Sr., 77, of Wilmington, died Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter. Bill was born January 19, 1937 in Wilmington, NC, son of the late James Davis Bordeaux and Eula Walton Bordeaux. His son, William J. Bordeaux, Jr., his daughter, Carolyn Ferree Bordeaux, and his sister, Barbara Garrett, preceded him in death. Bill spent his entire life in Wilmington. In his younger days, he was a member of St. Andrews-Covenant Presbyterian Church and was an extraordinarily gifted baritone in the choir. The duets he sang with his sister Nancy Benson still touch the hearts of all who listen to their recordings. He attended NC State College and finished his degree in engineering at Wilmington College. He was also a veteran of the US Army. Although the family misses Bill deeply, they rejoice with him in his union with our Lord Jesus Christ and two of his children, Billy & Carolyn. He is survived by his two daughters, Laura Bordeaux Hughes and Mary Elizabeth Bordeaux, both of Wilmington; eight grandchildren, Alexandra, Charles, Samuel, Benjamin, Rocco, Julia, Michael, and William; former wife, Beverly Ferree Bordeaux; two sisters, Nancy Benson of Wilmington and Betty Srsic of Chesapeake Bay, MD; and many nieces and nephews. A private, family graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery.
