Elder B. Orsag passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of October 14, 2016 at the age of 89. Her daughter, Cindy Simons was at her side. She was born in Lexington, Texas to Albert Drews and Willie Mae Prater Drews on April 10, 1927. At an early age Elder B. moved with her family to Giddings, Texas where she graduated from Giddings High School in 1944. Elder B. began working at the young age of 13 years for Milton York and Max Wahrmund at York Drugstore. This first job was acquired through the support of her cousin, Jackie Drews Kriegel. She enjoyed her time as a soda jerk. She later worked for LCRA in Giddings and was working here when she met and married Alvin John Orsag. After the honeymoon, Elder B. recalled when the teller at First National Bank merged their bank accounts, she informed Elder B. that her current balance was in the red for $13.00. Alvin said that he was always bailing her out!

Soon she began working with Alvin in the Radio and Electric Appliance repair business, and she shared how blessed she felt to find several wonderful women to help with the home and the children. Most notably was Marie Muniz, who was a lifelong friend and a second mother to all of the Orsag children. During their many years in business, Alvin and Elder B. were fortunate to travel and see many parts of the world.

Elder B. was always by her husband's side in the family businesses, both in Giddings and Rockdale. She was a devoted wife to Alvin for over 62 years. She worked tirelessly and passionately to help improve our community, and businesses in Giddings. She worked for the Hospital Board, the Chamber of Commerce, the Lee County Heritage Society, the Altar Society of St. Margaret's Church. Throughout the years her Bridge Club friends brought her many hours of enjoyment and she reluctantly gave it up only in her later years. Her home in Giddings was always an open and welcoming place to all of the friends of the Orsag family. She loved holiday times, family celebrations and many special joyous memories were made for her children, grandchildren and great grand children. Upon retirement, Elder B. was excited about moving with Alvin to the Drews family property in Lexington.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvin; her brother, Melvin; her dearly loved parents, Albert and Willie Mae Drews; son-in-law, Bob Simons and granddaughter-in-law, Holly Orsag.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Foster of Giddings, Glenda Barker and husband, Bill of Giddings, Cindy Simons of Lexington and son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Donna Orsag of Giddings. Survivors also include grandsons, John Foster and wife, Rhonda, Matt Foster and wife, Sarah, Jim Barker and wife, Cathy, David Orsag and wife, Hope, Darren Orsag and fiancée, Meagan Sumbera, Andrew Orsag and wife, Kaylee. Granddaughters include Tammy Dudezka, Molly Harville and husband, Kiley and Amy Blackburn and husband, Matt. She is survived by 19 great grandkids, one expected in late October, and 5 great, great grandchildren.

She was a greatly loved and cherished grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother. She delighted in the laughter and energy of all of her family, especially the children.

The family would like to thank the numerous caregivers who helped Elder B continue living in her home, most notably, Jody Bradbury and Crystal Dube.

For those so inclined, memorials may be given to the Lee County Area Cancer Resource Center, St. Margaret's Catholic Church Building Fund, Dime Box Heritage Society or the charity of your choice.
