Fleur Blazier Obituary

Fleur Christensen Blazier
August 3, 1942 - July 27, 2025
Fleur Christensen Blazier passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at the age of 82, after living with cancer for 5 years. Through her life's work she created a legacy of compassion and virtue. She found deep purpose in her work creating a positive impact on the community and in her law practice, which spanned more than 56 years until the last month of her life.

Born August 3, 1942 in Des Moine, Iowa to Mary Dandy Christensen and Bernhard Jens Christensen, Fleur grew up in New Braunfels, Texas. She is survived by her sons, Bernie Blazier and Chris Blazier, and her former husband, John C. Blazier.
Ms. Christensen earned her B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1963, and taught Latin in the Dallas public school system for four years before entering the University of Texas School of Law. She received her J.D. and admission to the Texas Bar in 1969 becoming one of only 33 women admitted to the Texas Bar that year.
She also served her country with distinction for 9 years. As Major Fleur Blazier, she was honorably discharged from the 49th Armored Division of the US National Guard in 1983, receiving a Meritorious Service Medal for her work as an Assistant Staff Judge Advocate.
Grounded in her faith, Fleur was a pillar of strength to her community and a source of comfort to countless lives. For her family, her law firm, and the family's community outreach programs, she was steady force who kept everything in motion through her love, wisdom, and generosity.
With the founding of the family's non-profit, The Seedling Foundation, in 1997, she supported the development of programs such as AISD campus beautification, student SAT tutoring and college application support, mentorship for children of incarcerated parents, and career pathway programs between AISD and Austin Community College.
Fleur Christensen Blazier was an active member of her church and tireless advocate for the Rule of Law, Women's Rights, and faith-based community support programs such as Loaves & Fishes. She counted Elizabeth Warren and Ruth Bader Ginsburg among her role models. Though she never retired from law, she embraced the joy of travel, exploring the world with her family and close friends.
Her legacy lives on in the family, friends, colleagues, and communities she enriched with her compassion, dedication, and vision.
Fleur Christensen's memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. CST on September 5, 2025 at All Saint's Episcopal Church to be followed by a reception at Kinsolving Parish Hall.

Fleur will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. My thoughts & prayers are with her wonderful family. She was such an inspiration and awesome mentor to me in my personal life, as a friend & as an attorney. I will always treasure the many years I worked with her at the law firm when I was a law clerk, then young attorney raising my children. She was a loving mother, balancing a busy schedule, yet always made time to help others. Her faith, kindness & ability to teach others were exceptional. I am grateful God allowed me to learn so many things from her . Love, Patty Stewart Kelly
