Holly Hopson

Bess Hopson is a special lady that touched everyone that had the privilege of meeting her - whether it was a lost animal, her long time friends, her family or someone who was lucky enough to be invited to one of her holiday dinners. I have been trying to remember my first memory of her, unfortunately I can not but I am one of many that was blessed with so many memories of her I can not share them all. I remember sitting at the "children's table" in the grand dinning room during the holidays, I remember collecting pecans with my brother and cousins - that Kimberley, Ken's daughter has recently joined in the family tradition, I remember swimming with her in the San Marcos river by the old Ice House with my cousin Chris and my brother Bill while she swimmed upstream against the current towards the falls while we searched for arrowheads. I remember all the summers she dragged us to Schlitterbahn so she could ride all the rides - even the ones we were scarred to ride on ourselves. Once she hit her head on the side of one of the waterslides, she was bleeding and my father, Bill Hopson made her go to the 1st Aid station - after they bandaged her head we couldn't stop her from conquering that ride once more. I could go on forever with all of the love and memories she gave me but there isn't enought time. My grandfather, best known to us kids as Daddy Wilbur was the luckiest of all - he was able to spend 63+ years with her and given us all the hope of finding that special person he was able to love, grow old with and give his family a lifetime of happy memories. I have the honor and privilege of calling Bess Hopson my grandmother and will miss her everyday of my life.

I never had the honor of meeting Mrs. Hopson, but as one of JoEllen's long time friends (since Jr. High), I have the honor of knowing Bill and Holly. Dearest Bill and Holly, my heart is heavy for your loss and I wish I could have known Jonquil. Warmest Regards, Mela Hastings Colgin Rhodes

Bess Hopson was a special lady who loved her family very much....Family came first and she was such a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Bess was kind to all she met....human and animal. With a beautiful smile, the twinkle in her eye, a voice from god and such a kind heart ...it only took someone meeting her for the first time.... seconds to know what a treasure she was. Her love that she shared for so many will by passed on throughout the years of time as loved ones remember her.
My family is honored by knowing Bess and the Hopson family...the kindness they extend is infectious and I am grateful for being considered part of this amazing family. Love, Leslie Stearns, Debra Hopson's sister.
