Michael NORMAN Obituary

NORMAN, Michael Scott
Mike, a long-time resident of Houston, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 23, 2016, in Austin, Texas after a long hard-fought battle with cancer.
A proud fifth generation Texan whose ancestors date to the days of the Republic, Mike was born on November 18, 1944, the second child of Mabel Douglass and Finley Norman after his late brother Douglass F. Norman. Whether it was the fishing, hunting, or fast cars of his youth or playing golf or a game of gin rummy, Mike was always in for a good time and enjoyed sharing those experiences with family and friends. Those that knew him will undoubtedly remember his warmth and generous heart.
Mike graduated from St. Thomas High School in 1962 and attended the University of Houston. He was proud to have served his country as a medic in the U.S. Army Reserves. Mike enjoyed a long and successful career in industrial chemical sales.
Mike and the love of his life, Elizabeth Donoho, recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. "Pops" is survived by his three sons, their wives and five grandchildren whom he never hesitated to brag about at length to all he met with great pride. It was love of family that moved Mike and Liz to the Hill Country to be closer to sons M. Scott Norman, Jr., wife Monique and their sons Jack and Ben; Shane Norman, wife Sasha and their son Sebastian; and Dax Norman, wife Karen, their daughter Eppe and son Bo.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Chapel of the Angels in Houston (6900 Lawndale Street).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike's memory to The Seton Fund - www.setonfund.org, Hospice Austin - www.hospiceaustin.org, or the Texas Builders Foundation - www.texasbuildersfoundation.org.

I'm proud to leave another condolence to Mike's Legacy page. He was such a fun person, yet an exceptionally good husband to his wife, Liz, and proud father to Scott, Shane, and Dax Norman. His grandkids were also obviously very loved. He's missed by many, but the good memories of him are strong! It's going to be a great reunion in heaven for all of us one day!

Mike was a great guy with a big heart! I have many fond memories of being at his house in Pecan Grove to see Liz and visiting with him about politics, sports, and his and my kids. He was always rightfully proud of Liz, their two sons, their sons' wives, and all of the grandkids. He'll be missed by many, and I'm glad that I had that time with him.
