After college Rita moved to Washington, DC, where she worked for five years in the Prints and Photographs Division of the Library of Congress. In 1975, Rita returned to Austin where she worked for the Texas Legislature. She was later appointed Executive Director of the Texas Pension Review Board, a position she held until she retired. Rita is survived by he daughter Julie, who was at her mother's side throughout her long illness; sister Margaret Lloyd and niece Leslie Lowe of Maryland; and a grandnephew and grandniece, also from Maryland. I just learned that Rita passed away in June. I went to high school with her. She was an awesome friend. She was so smart, kind, and lots of fun. I know it's painful for the family to lose her. I'm so sorry she had to have such an awful disease. I lost contact with her after high school. She was smart and went to college. I got married to a sailor and moved around until 1977. I saw her at our our 10 year high school reunion. I think that was just before she moved back to Austin. God bless all of you, I'm so happy she had a daughter. I live near Beverly Street where she lived for awhile in high school. I think of her in passing.
