Frank Joseph Papenfus

Keizer - Frank was born on the Roberts Ranch, just south of Salem, during the years his father was foreman for the large organization and attended Salem Schools. He enlisted in the Army and served in Korea during the Korean Conflict and later transferred to the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from the military after 20 years service in 1974, then worked for the State of Oregon in the Corrections Division for 18 years. Frank retried from the Santiam Correctional Facility as a Correctional Lieutenant in 1994. He enjoyed the computer, internet, fishing and traveling.

Frank married Carlene Shaw Koch in 1980 and she preceded him in September of 2017. Survivors include daughter Lori Papenfus, sons Michael and Terry Papenfus, James Foster and Kurtis Koch, daughter Julia Oliver, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and brothers Bernard and Gary Papenfus.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 10 at Belcrest Memorial Park. Assisting the family is Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service.

Lt. Papenfus was always a great man to talk to about anything. I always enjoyed working with him at WRU & SCI . He will be missed by many.

Went to Roberts grade school with Frank. We were not close friends but remember liking him. Sorry for his family loss.
