November 5, 1940 - July 16, 2014
SALEM - Bob, 73, died July 16 in Salem. He was born in Portland to George (Sparky) & Marge (O'Malley) Ditter, and grew up in Mill City, moving to Salem in 1970. Bob graduated from St. Boniface High School in Sublimity. He was a member of Knights of Columbus St. Joseph's Council #1748. Bob received his Associates degree as an auto technician and was very proud of it. He worked in many different areas, most notably as a partner in D&M Insurance Agency in Keizer and owning and operating Action Motors. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and working on cars and various projects. He married Doris Gaines on March 18, 1972 in Renton, WA. Bob is survived by his wife: Doris of Salem; his cousin from his Mother's side: John Pat O'Malley of Milwaukie and lots of Ditter cousins. Rosary will be on Wednesday, July 23 at 9:30 am followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am both at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Salem, where he was a member. Graveside service will be Wednesday, July 23 at 2:00 pm, at St. Mary Cemetery in Stayton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Joseph's Knights of Columbus #1748 Seminarian Fund 721 Chemeketa St. NE Salem, OR 97301 or St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank PO Box 7864 Salem, OR 97303. Serving the family, North Santiam Funeral Service, Stayton.

Bob and I just learned of Bob's passing. We so enjoyed knowing Bob and Doris. Bob was always so friendly with a great sense of humor and such a good witness to the Catholic faith. Prayers go out to Doris and the rest of the family. Eternal rest grant unto him., Oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen

Mr. Ditter was a devoted Adoration Chapel adorer in our parish (Sacred Heart, Gervais). He will be missed.

Bob and his wife would come in and purchase gardening supplies from us, Grower's Nursery Supply just down the road from his house. He was a chatter and we will miss him coming in.

Bob and I use to run around in Salem in the early 70's. we went to drive ins and cruised the gutt.
He was one of the nicest men I ever knew.
He will be missed by many.

I met Bob when we used to cruise the gutt on Portland Road in Salem. You had Lindy's Drive Inn, The Jumbo, and Bob's hamburgers, those were the days. I always thought that Bob was a good guy. My sincerest condolences to the family. Rest in peace my friend.
