Delores Hood Obituary

Delores Mock Hood, 85, of Charlotte, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Hood was born on May 20, 1921 in Alexander County and was the daughter of the late Roy L. Mock and Ruthie Moose Mock. She attended Sharon High School and was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. She was married to the late Jay T. Hood. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Mock Waugh. Mrs. Hood is survived by four sisters, Isabelle Mock Herring of New Bern, Juanita Mock Harris of Statesville, Mary Mock Houser and husband, Joe, of Cornelius, and Willie Mock Daniels of Statesville; a niece, Gail Waugh Dagenhart of Stony Point; step-children, Nancy Hood Hamilton and husband, Robert, Larry Hood, Ted Funderburk and a number of loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Setzer and the Rev. Rex Gibbs officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday before the funeral hour. Interment will be held Tuesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Charlotte. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625 or to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Hood.
