Dan and Sue, I remember Mr. Chitwood as a friendly competitor to my dad from the days when there were 5 drug stores in downtown St.Augustine. Your dad was well respected by all the other pharmacists as well as his customers. My condolences to you all.

I fondly remember going into the drug store as a kid with my father (faculty at UF college of Pharmacy) so he could chat it up with Mr. Chitwood. Later it was an honor to know him as a Rotarian here in town. Godspeed Mr. Chitwood, and peace to his family.

What a dear, kindhearted man your father was. I have many fond memories of his laughter from Rotary, his gentle smile will be missed,

I worked for Dan at McDonald's Drugstore back in high school delivering prescriptions all over town. He had a great sense of humor and treated everyone so well especially the older customers that needed help. When we were not busy we both stocked shelves. He had great empathy, integrity and sincere kindness. I learned a lot from his excellent character as I was making my 50 cents a hour and also reaped great rewards for my young life. Wish I could have see him before he passed, great memories!!!
