Harold Eugene "Bubba" Solano

Harold Eugene "Bubba" Solano, age 79, of Elkton, Florida, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 19, 2015, at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, due to complications that arose after receiving third-degree burns in an accident on April 24, 2015. Harold was born and raised in Elkton, and was a lifelong resident of St. Johns County. For many years, he worked as a welder and mechanic, fabricating farm equipment for Middleton Harvesters Inc., and later working as a farmer for Middleton and many local farmers. Later in his life, he was known to many simply as "H." He loved to hunt, was an avid softball player and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janiece Solano; sons, Gene Solano (Tammie), Stanley Solano (Terri) and Sandy Solano; daughters, Debbie Abercrombie, Nancy Weeks (Ben Stewart), and Stefanie Jackson (William); a sister, Jackie Bradbury (Maurice); seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held 9 a.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2015, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kiran Medipalli officiating. Interment will follow at St. Ambrose Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at St. Johns Family Funeral Home.
