Mary Paxton Obituary

Mary Morris Paxton, 98, St. Augustine, died Feb. 28, 2002, at Mariner Health Care Center of St. Augustine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard H. Paxton.

Mrs. Paxton was born in Hodgenville, Larue County, Kentucky. She was the child of James William and Addie B. (Castleman) Morris. She attended Lawrenceburg, Ky., schools and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University. She was a member of First Christian Church, Mandarin, Fla., and had resided in Colee Cove and St. Augustine since 1957.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Craig Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Edward Adams, officiating. Burial will be in St. Augustine Memorial Park. Flowers are gratefully declined; those wishing may make a contribution in her memory to the St. Johns County Wildlife Association, 5705 C.R. 208, St. Augustine, FL 32092.

She is survived by two sisters, Lucille Cox, St. Petersburg Fla., and Ruth Shouse, Lawrenceburg, Ky.; one niece, Mildred Cottrell Alexander, Elliott, Ill.; three nephews Richard S. Cottrell, East Greenwich, R.I., Phillip P. Peeples, Ashland, Ky., and Charles R. Cottrell Jr., Satellite Beach, Fla., and numerous great nieces and nephews.

Craig Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
