Elaine H. Edwards, 82, of St. Augustine, passed away peacefully at the Bailey Family Center for Caring on Friday, February 19, 2021. Her two sons were at her side. She was born on January 13, 1939 and raised in Florence, South Carolina. On October 15, 1960, Elaine married the love of her life, Charles Robert (Bob) Edwards. The couple moved to Atlanta, where they raised their family. After their children were grown, they travelled around the world together and eventually retired to St. Augustine in 2000.
As the eldest of five children, Elaine's tenacity, creativity, love of people, and positive attitude were attributes that she developed that carried her successfully through her entire life. Both she and Bob were very active and involved members of the church community both in Atlanta and Saint Augustine. She had a love for people but more than anything she loved her family.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Edwards and Michael Edwards; grandchildren, Kayla and Kelsie Edwards; three great-granddaughters, one great grandson; siblings, Carolyn Wickliffe, Diane Smoak and Danny Humphries. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bob Edwards; parents, Carl and Lou Ann Humphries and brother, Jack Humphries.
A memorial service will be held at Grace United Methodist church at 11:00 am on February 27, 2021. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest donations be made to support Community Hospice, Grace United Methodist Church, or cancer research.
