Raymond C. Delano Sr., 89, passed away at home with his family on Oct. 6, 2012.

Born in El Dorado, Ark., and living most of his youth in California, Raymond began his career in the USAF serving in the European theater during World War II, keeping the A-20"s flying. Following his 20-year retirement from the Air Force, he wrote curriculum and taught college in New Jersey. "Ray" retired from teaching and moved to St. Augustine with his wife Juliet in 1984. A Mason for over 50 year,s Ray was a member of the St. Augustine Shrine Club and The Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Juliet Scardaccione DeLano; children, Juno Livia Delano, George Raymond Delano, Raymond C. Delano Jr., and his nephew who grew up as a son, Milton DeLano; nine grandchildren, Venus Helena Wilmer, Lawrence Adams Delano (Adam), Juliet Lee Delano, Robin Rose Lacrimosa, Benjamin DeLano, Megen DeLano, Raymond C. Delano III, Barbara Delano, Constance Delano; five great-grandchildren, Victoria, Samantha, Gavin, Jacob and Nicholas; and four great-great-grandchildren, Savannah, Daniel, Brielle and Abigail.
Raymond will be missed by all who have known him. The family extends their gratitude to Community Hospice and to the Mayo Clinic. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to the St. Augustine Shrine Club. Raymond will be buried at the Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Service and burial will be private.
