Gene was the epitome of a trial lawyer. Everyone who worked for him, around him, or on the other side of a case learned something good from him. A lot of that was about how to conduct yourself as a lawyer with integrity, decency, civility, and respect for everyone involved. I never heard anyone say a bad word about him. He had a keen, dry sense of humor. Yet it was always used gently, never in a mean way. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace Gene.
