Coach Kersting was my football coach at Saint Louis Univ. 1969-72. An outstanding individual in every way. I walked on from New Jersey and he started me every game. Which made my dreams come true and fulfilled my Jesuit education. I am forever grateful.
God bless him and the family

Dear Rita and Family, I am so very sorry to learn of Jack's passing. I was visiting family up north when it happened. I have so many fond memories of the good times we had while all of us were at Alhambra. Jack was very special and you both were wonderful friends. I still have colleagues remind me of how they enjoyed hearing Jack sing at our Convention - "Wind Beneath my Wings" became very special to Leon and he requested it for his own funeral - no one sang it like Jack. My sincere sympathy goes to you and your family and thanks to you both for the impact on my life. Love, Colleen Lines

Dear Rita and family
It has taken me two weeks to get over the fact that Coach has passed away. Every person should have an opportunity to meet someone in life who truly makes the colors of life brighter, the songs of sounds vibrate, and the goals of life meaningful. Jack was that person for me. He was that person for hundreds. And I am sure he was that person for your family. Rita, I echoed much of what his other players at SLU did at our reunion 18 months ago -- I now only wish that we had said even more. You have all of our prayers and I know that Coach is once again having an undefeated season in heaven.

It was my pleasure to have known and worked with Jack in the Tennis Arena for the last 10-12 years or so. What a great man and always there for the kids. Rita and Kersting family,
Sadly we will not be able to attend the services for Coach Jack in St. Louis, but Rita, we wanted to express our condolences to you and the children. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to speak with you. Our fondest memories of Jack will be the duets that he and Patty sang at our CBC reunions! She says it was like singing with Dean Martin again! Do you remember Rick and Carol Balducci being moved to tears at that talent? We are better from having the honor to know such a fine man.

Mrs. Kersting and family......Jack was a person I always looked up to....I got to know him as a fellow homebound teacher and heard him teach his social studies classes many times.....I always considered Jack to be a friend more than a valued colleague....I loved his singing and after I moved on to Maryvale, I remember Jack singing at our yearly retirement parties......I will miss this wonderful teacher, performer, and friend......I can but send my condolences with all my heart and be assured that Jack will never be forgotten.

To the Kersting Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Coach was a true inspiration to me and many others. He was one of several solid mentors I had at Alhambra. I was proud to be coached by him and will always feel immense fondness when I think of him and our relationship. The "Lion" family has lost a great one!

Kathleen and the Kersting Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my father last June and my step father the October before. So losing a parent suddenly is very heartbreaking. My fondest memory of your dad was when we went to your house and your father would drill us girls like military cadets as to where we going for the evening. Or better yet hearing him coach the football team. Your dad was the best and he will be missed.

Kersting Family, Our prayers & thoughts are with you all during this very difficult time. Jack & Rita sang at our wedding almost 25 years ago and we saw them regularly at GCC Football games while our son played under Coach Joe Kersting. Cameron went on to play division 2 football in Kansas which Coach Joe helped him immensely to get their and finish his college football career. We will forever remember Jack singing at the midnight mass while we attended St. Louis the King during the holidays and your folks always with a smile on their faces and always willing to chat.
May God Bless You All During This Rough Time! We all know he's up in heaven singing at the top of his lungs!

Just last November you gave my family the priviledge of hearing your beautiful voice at my wife's funeral service. Now you are singing with the angels. You'll be greatly missed, especially at Christmas, but not forgotten.

Rita,
This is Amanda Suminski... I took piano lessons from you and my mother, Carmen, and I were neighbors and friends in Glendale. My, how quickly time passes.
I am so sorry to hear of Jack's death! I have such fond memories of singing with him and putting on a "show" for my mom and grandparents on Christmas Eve.
Over 20 years ago, he encouraged me to audition for my first show, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" at Theater Works, and I have enjoyed theatre ever since!
Wonderful music! Wonderful memories! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Kerry and the Kersting Family,
I am saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Jack.
Even though some 30+ years have passed since your family left Crestwood, I still remember walking through the woods and across the creek from my house to yours. I remember those impromptu football games in your back yard, hockey games in your basement, the sound of KSHE radio blaring from the boys' bedroom and the sight of all those beds lined up one after the other.
My fondest memory of Jack is his singing of "Oh Holy Night" during Midnight Mass every Christmas Eve at St. Elizabeth. What an amazing voice God gave him!!! My late mother, who was born on Christmas day, looked so forward to hearing Jack sing "her favorite song" every year. To this day, whenever I hear that song, I think of my mom and the joy that Jack's moving rendition brought her on her birthday.
May God be with you all during this difficult time. My thought and prayers are with you.

Rita;
My two oldest children, Karen & Rich, as well as me, were in the Theater Works production of South Pacific in 1987 with Jack. We all had such a great experience with that show, and Jack was so wonderful with my kids, age 10 & 8 at the time. Jack left an impression with everyone he met and will be sorely missed. My family sends our heartfelt sympathies and prayers to you & yours.

Rita,
I will always remember Jack patroling the sidelines at the Alhambra High School football games and how he was a fixture on the Alhambra campus. He was alway nice and friendly to the staffs & students of Alhambra High School. Once a Lion, always a Lion. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.
