Hello Jim it's Donald Berry. It's been almost 10 years since your passing and it's still hard to believe that you are not around. I appreciate all the times and memories that I made with you. Still think of you as my special friend and think of you all the time. I will always have you in my heart, Love always.

Jim was not only a good friend for many years, he was also a groomsman in my wedding in 1974. Had great fun with him at Overland Baptist
church making music and I played drums behind him on several gigs when I was in college--he was one crazy great guitarist. I remember once in the early 70's we went fishing just outside the city, but spent more time listening to music on the radio--whenever I hear Green-Eyed Lady, I think of that time. His passing leaves a weird empty place in the world.

Sorry I learned about his passing too late to personally share my thoughts with his family. Jim was one of my all-time favorite colleagues in the sports media. He loved racing and he loved to share that passion. I will never forget his generous nature.

My condolences to the family. I got to hang out with Jim at the 40th reunion for a while and had a ball. It was like 1 year had passed instead of 40.

I have fond memories of Jim from our school days at Ritenour High School; great memories of our rock & roll band experiences together. Jim was a fellow of many interests and abilities and I was always impressed, though not surprised, with his many accomplishments. He will be remembered.

Being a good friend to one (Tim Henning) along with all the heckling the two of you did back and forth with each other over the years, will always be a lasting memory of a true friendship. We will miss Jim. He was the first neighbor to welcome us to the neighborhood and even offered us pizza when we met. Our kids grew up together and we were always welcome in his home and shared many good times there at superbowl and family parties. He & Debbie made us feel like we were a part of the family. May God's blessings be with him and his family. Rest in peace Jim.

Gosh, Jim and I have been friends and business associates for "I don't remember" must be since the early 80"s....Jim was a real stand up guy..told you like he saw it.

Went to school with Jimmy and even though we never "hung-out" together whenever I would see him, he would always talk to me. He was a down-to-earth, very likeable person. He will be missed! My deepest sympathy to the family.

I was in Jim's class at Ritenour, and still remember his great band "Jim Compton and the Lansing Review." Very much enjoyed reminscing with him at our 40th reunion a few years back. My sincere condolences to friends and family.

I took photos with Jim at the STL Track every September, What a shock to hear of his passing, I am so sorry, He was such a great guy. Michelle from Competition Plus and the whole Team will Miss him very much! We shared many great stories, He will be very missed by me.

I've known Jim for 30 years, and considered him a dear friend. He was always supportive through my law enforcement career and enjoyed helping various police and Federal agencies with funding and support at their various events. He will be missed. My condolences to his wonderful family.
