Katherine Chlumsky Obituary

Chlumsky, Katherine Kerckhoff 72, passed away comfortably the morning of January 20, 2016 at Naples Community Hospital with her family at her side. After suffering from severe rheumatoid arthritis for the past 20 years, she now rests peacefully. Born in St. Louis, MO, Kathy and her family made their winter home on the beach in South Naples during her childhood. She married the boy next door, 51 years ago, and has lived here permanently since 1964. A dedicated and devoted wife and mother of five boys, Kathy was also very active in the community, volunteering at the Naples Community Hospital Emergency Room and chairing many charitable events over the years including the Heart Ball and the Angel Ball. Kathy was also a talented artist and calligrapher and she expressed this gift every chance she could including making all the holidays at the Chlumsky home very magical events. And anyone that ever came to the Chlumsky home knew that Kathy was also a superb cook. Her childhood passion for riding horses carried into most of her adult life with some of her beloved four-legged friends. She also enjoyed travelling through Europe with her husband Dale and lived in Vienna, Austria with her family for one year in 1973. She was predeceased by her parents Mr. & Mrs. Richard D. Kerckhoff, a son Anthony A. Chlumsky, and a sister Marquita (Bob) Auffenberg. She is survived by her husband Dale and four sons, Dale Chlumsky, Jr. (Joanna), Nick Chlumsky (Lisa), Chris Chlumsky and Conrad Chlumsky; five grandchildren, Daniel Chlumsky, Katherine (Kate) Chlumsky, Alexandra Chlumsky, Nicholas Chlumsky and Lauren Chlumsky; four siblings \all from St. Louis Mary Ann Tenge (Richard), Angela Presnell (Edward), Richard D. Kerckhoff, Jr. (Marion) and Chris Kerckhoff (Peg); a sister-in-law Patricia (Paul) Stevens and two nephews Paul Arthur Stevens and Peter Stevens. Services: A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Ann Church in Naples, FL at 935 Third Street South on Saturday January 30th at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
