Kevin Bittner Obituary

Bittner, Kevin Paul

Age 68 of St. Louis, MO peacefully entered heaven on March 9, 2024 after a courageous and inspirational six-year battle against idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

To know Kevin was to love Kevin. He was a man of authenticity who lived an incredibly fulfilled life with an emphasis on family, fun, and lots of laughter. Kevin's heart of gold was extended to all, and his charm and wit were contagious. You could find Kevin manning his BBQ pit, hitting bombs at the golf course or cheering on the Cardinals with a pinot grigio in hand or a grandchild on his lap. Legends never die and "the Governor" was beyond legendary.

Kevin adored his wife of 45 years, Margie Lawder Bittner, as well as his four children Brian (Diana) Bittner, Maureen (Michael) Sansone, Michelle (Scott) Roberts, and Melissa (Bret) Gillman along with his nine grandchildren (Peggy, Rosa, Michael, Vincent and Josefina Sansone, Johnny, Bennett, and Jackson Bittner, and Michael Roberts). Kevin is also survived by his loving sisters Jan (Tibor) Nagy and Linda Marchetti. He is greeted in heaven by his father (John), mother (Ruth), brother (Bob), brother-in-law (John Marchetti) and mother-in-law (Joan Lawder).

Services: Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 14th from 4pm-8pm at Bopp Chapel, 10610 Manchester Road, Kirkwood, MO. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, March 15th at 10am at Christ Prince of Peace (CPOP) Catholic Church, 415 Weidman Road, Manchester, MO. Lunch will immediately follow Mass for all family and friends at Greenbriar Hills Country Club, 12665 Big Bend Boulevard, Kirkwood, MO. A private interment will take place at a later date.

Margie and family,
I'm so very sorry to hear about Kevin! He was a true gentleman that was so fun to be around. He was also a fantastic Rockhurst powder puff football coach! I'll always hold a special place for him in my heart!

Dear Jan and Tibor Nagy,
We are sorry to hear of the passing of Kevin. We know of him from a story related to us by my brother , Rich, about 60 years ago. After an accident on the areas favorite sledding hill, old #9 at Geenbriar, Ric noted that he had carried "...Jan's little brother, Kevin..." back to the top of the hill with an injured leg.
We are also sorry to hear of his difficulties in recent years. Our condolences to you, his spouse and children, and all of the extended family. May Kevin rest in eternal peace.
