Marlene Fick Obituary

Fick, Marlene Kay (nee Neff), age 74 of St. Louis, MO, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014. Marlene was born in Centralia, IL. to Raymond and Ruby Neff. She was a 1961 graduate of Lutheran School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO. She was a dedicated compassionate nurse for 42 years and retired after 20 years of caring for veterans at the St. Louis Veterans Administration Medical Center at Jefferson Barracks. She was a devoted member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church in South St. Louis County. Marlene cherished her many lifelong friends from church, her Tuesday Club girls, and was loved like a grandma to so many friends of her children and grandchildren. Her love and devotion to her grandchildren kept Marlene and her husband of 51 years, Donald L. Fick, ever present at softball fields, basketball games, recitals, and cheer performances. Her kind and gentle presence was cherished by all that knew her. She is survived by her husband of 51 years Donald L. Fick, her daughters Karen Moore, Sharon (Michael) Wernig, Nancy (Kevin) Enger: beloved grandchildren Jacob, Claire, Meredith, Amanda, Joseph, Ashley and Anna, brother Richard (Cherry) Neff and many dear nieces and nephews and in-laws. Marlene is preceded in death by her brother Lonnie Neff and sister Margie Stinnett, and son in law Dr. Clayton Wilson. Services: Visitation Thursday 3 - 8 pm at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS South County 4830 Lemay Ferry Rd. (63129). Funeral Service Friday, 1:30pm at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 4355 Butler Hill Rd. (63128). Interment New St. Marcus Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for development of special education for Abiding Savior Lutheran School, 4355 Butler Hill Rd, St. Louis, MO 63128 or the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016 or www.kidney.org.
