I won my first bridge competition with Ed a very long time ago. He shared his family with me at a time when I really needed support. I will always think of him as a young man because I have not seen him in a very long time. I am saddened by his passing. My heartfelt sympathy to all of his family. Edwina

Dear Mrs. Schultz,
My husband, Virgil Cox, was a very good friend of Ed's all through high school in Beardstown, Illinois. Ed and Julian Buck and Virgil were always together. The news of Ed's passing was upsetting to Virgil and we wanted you to know that he enjoyed Ed in their younger days. There were always stories to tell about their high school days and they always began with Ed and Julian and I....
We are sorry about your loss. Virgil always looked for Ed and hoped that Ed would have attended some of the high school reunions but never saw him at any. I'm sure he will be thinking of Ed for several days to come.
We will both be thinking of you in your time of sorrow.

Dear Beth,
Knowing Ed was a true pleasure. He was kind and friendly and fought his illness with such dignity. He will be sorely missed.

Ed had such a great sense of humor and loving spirit. It was a special joy to see him with his mom at the bridge table.
