Billy Shane Stauffer

Chaplain (CPT) Billy Shane Stauffer was born on May 11, 1966, the son of Les and Carolyn Stauffer and grew up in Saraland, Alabama. After graduating from Satsuma High School in 1984, Shane spent four years in the Army as a Pharmacy Technician.

Chaplain Stauffer received an undergraduate degree in Religious Theology in 1998 from Washington Bible College-Capital Bible Seminary in Lanham, Maryland. In 2001, Shane earned a Master of Theology degree from the Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas.

Chaplain Stauffer was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army's Chaplain Corps in December 2004. His first assignmnt as an Army Chaplain was at Fort Sill, Oklahoma as the Battalion Chaplain for the 2nd Battalion, 5th Field Artillery Regiment. In June 2009, Chaplain Stauffer was assigned to the 18th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion in Grafenwoehr, Germany as the Battalion Chaplain, where he served until May 2011. Following a year of Clinical Pastoral Education at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Chaplain Stauffer was assigned to the 28th Combat Support Hospital as the Hospital Chaplain at Fort Bragg, NC.

Chaplain Stauffer's awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (one oak leaf cluster), Army Achievement Medal (one oak leaf cluster), Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.

Chaplain Stauffer is survived by his wife, Alison Mae Stauffer; children, Reagan, Theron and Ryann Stauffer, father Leslie Stauffer, mother Carolyn Stauffer, brother Sean Stauffer.
