Robert Garside Obituary

Garside, Robert (Bob) C., 75, passed away on October 3, 2008 after a battle with lung cancer. He was born on March 8, 1933 in Boston, MA, the son of Mary and Wilbur Garside. After serving in the Marines during the Korean War, Bob settled in South Florida. He had a long career with Aerodex before starting his own business, Garside's Aircraft and Engine Service. Bob was the owner and President of the company for over 30 years. During his career he was recognized as an expert in his field. Bob was a sports enthusiast with a passion for the game of golf which became his number one hobby. He played the game with a youthful energy for over 40 years. Bob was an outgoing, kind, generous man who always would see the best in others, be quick with a joke, and enjoyed the simple things in life. Bob is survived by his wonderful wife of 25 years, Marion; his children, Bob, Brenda, Rich and Sharon; brothers and sisters, Bill, Maureen, Frank and Elaine along with a host of family. In the end, as his doctors and family knew, he was tough and fought the good fight. We know today that Bob is in heaven with his father, surrounded by friends and maybe even enjoying an early tee-time. Papa "G", you are missed greatly. Family and friends will honor Bob's life at one of his favorite restaurants, Tropical Acres, at 2500 Griffin Road, Ft. Lauderdale, at noon on October 12th.
