Dear Mr. and Mrs. Brehm and Randy,
My deepest condolences to all of you and I am TRULY sorry this has taken so long to find a way to contact you. When I first found out of Scott's passing (from the Pine Crest Columns) I tried to find a way to contact you but never had your information. Today a mutual friend posted a beautiful tribute to Scott on Facebook and this site so I am finally able to send you my deepest sympathy. I knew Scott from Pine Crest Boca (back in the Boca Academy days) and through high school at PC in Fort Lauderdale. There is a song that to this DAY reminds me of your son, he had asked me to dance at a friend's Bat Mitzvah when we were in middle school and after that dance, I always thought he was a sweet and great guy! Im saddend that we were not close friends and did not keep touch after high school, but when I hear that song, I remember him fondly and always say a prayer for him. Sincerely, Amy McDonald

Scott and I went to the University of Florida together, but didn't become great friends until we both worked as poker dealers at the Hard Rock. We car-pooled for over a year and established a friendship I will cherish forever. He shared so much of his chess knowledge with me, and we enjoyed many a game of backgammon and poker as well. I could not ask for a more genuine friend. Scott...you are missed more than words will ever express.

Dear Jack and Susan,

I was so sorry to hear the news about Scott. I know how little words written on a page can mean to you at such a time, but I still want to let you know that you are in my thoughts. I would also like to help you in any way I can to get beyond this. I have known Scott since the late 90s and I worked with him enhancing his software skills for about a year. I was very impressed with his ambition and motivation. He was always trying to impress me by demonstrating how quickly he grasped the concepts we covered. It seemed a great future was on the horizon for him. I was truly saddened to learn the news. Hopefully, Scott is in a better place now and at peace with himself.

With deepest sympathy,

Paul J. Lay

Scott was a very close friend and we shared many memorable experiences. We traveled to many chess tournaments together and spent a lot of time playing chess, backgammon and poker together. He was my chess student and I remember very fondly a tournament in Las Vegas in 2002 where Scott did very well and won a substantial amount of money, we were so excited and I will always remember those good times. I'll miss you Scott.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Brehm and Randy,

I was shocked and of course very saddened when I heard about Scott. During this extremely difficult time, my thoughts & prayers will always be with you. I treasure having known Scott and many fun memories with him during middle and high school; especially his ability to always stir things up, his sense of humor/laughter, his enthusiasm/skill for video games and his great love for the cats.

Dear Susan, Jack, and Randi

My deepest condolences go to you for the tragic loss of Scott.

He was a true friend, forever loyal and caring. I feel a great emptiness with the news of his passing, but I will always celebrate the many wonderful memories I have of him. His sense of humor, his intelligence, his call for adventure, and his drive to entertain and amuse those he loved are the qualities I will always remember about Scott.

Scott was my best friend in high school, and his friendship has truly made an impact on the person I have grown up to become. He was a special, one-of-a-kind individual that I am truly fortunate to have known so well.

Right now, I would give anything to spend another moment with him, to feel his presence and share a laugh. Forever will I hold a special place in my heart for Scott.

Condolences to the Jack, Susan and Randi. My family and I had a very special bond with Scott. We have enough memories to last a lifetime. He will never be forgotten, and we will always love and miss his special smile, laugh, sense of humor and his caring ways.

Though nothing can bring back the hour.
Of spendor in the grass, of glory in the flower
We will grieve not, but rather find
Strength in what remains behind.

Sleep well, my son.
