Anne Kearney Obituary

Anne Cecile (Wade) Kearney, 83, lifelong resident of Sweetwater, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Her wishes were cremation. There will be a Family Visitation from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at Bethel Assembly Church. There will be a private graveside service at 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 3, 2022, at Palava Cemetery with Rev. Carter Edmondson officiating and directed by McCoy Funeral Home. Anne was born on February 20, 1939, in Jackson, TN to Cecil H. and Myrtle Estelle (Collett) Wade. She moved to Sweetwater in 1953 after having lived in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Tennessee. Anne graduated from Newman High School in 1957. She married Carroll L. Kearney June 2, 1956 in Merkel, TX. Anne worked several places to include the clerk's office in the Nolan County Courthouse, Adult Probation Office, Sweetwater Medical Clinic, Simmons Memorial Hospital, the Dickson Law Office and finally Kearney Plumbing. Anne enjoyed reading and belonged to the local book club society, and the Sorosis Club. You would see her frequent the Nolan County Library to check out books. She enjoyed sewing and making outfits for herself and family members. Her smile will be missed by friends and most of all her family. She is survived by her husband, Carroll L. Kearney, Sr. of Sweetwater, Texas, a son, Sam Kearney and wife Kim of Ovilla, Texas, a daughter, Kelly Burnum and husband Ken of Mena, Arkansas, a daughter-in-law, Linda Kearney of Austin, Texas, 6 grandchildren – Adam Kearney, Jacob Burnum, Courtney Traynham, Amanda James, Jenny Kearney and Natalie Kearney and 5 great grandchildren – Jesse Traynham, Garrett Byrd, Jayli James, Logan James and Emma Kearney. She was preceded in death by a son, Carroll L. Kearney, Jr. November 12, 2015, her parents Cecil H. and Myrtle Estelle (Collett) Wade, and a brother Robert Wade.
