Fay Childress Obituary

Fay MaTilda Hagy Childress

October 22, 1933 - July 14, 2025

Mrs. Fay MaTilda Hagy Childress passed away on July 14, 2025, in Richlands, VA, at the age of 91.

Born on October 22, 1933, in Vansant, VA, she was the youngest of eight children born to John Henry Hagy and Rachel Price Hagy. Throughout her life, she remained deeply connected to her roots and family.

Fay was preceded in death by Clell B. Skeens of Grundy and her second husband, Ronald Joe Childress of Richlands. She is lovingly remembered by her children, Clell L. Skeens and David S. Skeens, both of Richlands, VA; and her daughter, Sherry Skeens Herlong of Swansea, SC.

She leaves behind a legacy through her large and cherished family, including ten grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her devotion to family, Fay found joy in the simple pleasures of life. One of her favorite pastimes was fishing for catfish a hobby she enjoyed whenever she had time away from caring for her loved ones.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
