Dear Fred and Teeny and Geerit-Jan, I went to Utrecht with Devra on the study abroad trip when she met and fell in love with Geerit-Jan. She was a marvelous person and wonderful friend. Since we both married and started moving around, I lost touch, but recenttly heard from Patty Hudson (a friend of Karen Koelemij's) about Devra. Eric (my husband) and I send our deepest sympathy. We know how much you must have loved her, because she did share that love with people (like me) that she met throughout her life. I tried to google her so many times throughout the past few decades, but never could find her. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Much belated love and good wishes,
Sonja Elison

Fred, Teeny, Doug, Gerrit-Jan, Andrea & Sanne:

Having been a Turner neighbor for much of my youth, I was deeply saddened after learning of Devra's passing. I have so many memories from my childhood of Devra, Doug and the Turner family. I'm sure you all are proud of the fine person that she had become. My heart felt sympathy to you all. Now that her suffering has ended it's time to celebrate her life. My best wishes to you all.

Gerrit, Andrea, Sanne & Turner Family

I’m deeply saddened to hear of Devra’s passing, she was a beautiful person inside and out and I know she will be missed by all who knew her.
I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to get to know her when she “hired” me to care for Andrea & Sanne after school in the mid 90’s when they lived in Tallahassee! Devra had a contagious smile & laugh, she loved her family and life itself. Even though several years have passed since I last saw them, I still think of the Tuijten family often! I pray that all of your fond memories of happy times bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Love,

Doug and Jane Scott
