Edward Robinson Obituary

Edward S. Robinson

Edward S. (Steve) Robinson, 57, transitioned this life on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital from complications of coronary artery disease. He was the son of the late March P. and Thelma Crump Robinson of Tallahassee, Florida. Services will be 12 Noon Saturday, October 1, 2011 at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Friday, September 30, 6-8 p.m. at the Golden Eagle Country Club, 3700 Golden Eagle Drive, Tallahassee. Steve graduated from Leon High School in 1971, and received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy. He became a registered pharmacist in 1980 and expanded his expertise by receiving certification as a consultant pharmacist in 1982. He worked with various retail pharmacies in the central Florida area until he returned to Tallahassee in 1990. He began a career with FAMU, while continuing to work as a relief pharmacist in the tri-county area until his death. He enjoyed the arts, travel and time with family and friends. He was active in a local community organization, as well as with St. Michael's, providing fundraising activities benefiting the community and philanthropic causes. He was a generous and kind individual, frequently sacrificing for the needs of others.

Steve is survived by: his devoted sister, Mrs. Valeria Robinson-Baker; two loving nieces, Brittney Alexa Baker and Camille Victoria Baker; a brother-in-law, Dr. Robert T. Baker, all of Windemere, FL; two aunts, Mrs. Edith Y. Crump, Tallahassee, Mrs. Lydia R. Johnson, Lemon Grove, CA; three sisterly cousins, Mrs. Marilyn C. Dickey, Mrs. Rhonda C. They say that as long as someone is remembered they are never truly gone. Over the many years since graduating from Leon with Edward, I have thought fondly of him. He was loving and kind and all the words we wish others would describe us, but he truly was. He brought so much joy to us in the band.
Here I am in 2024 in a city in another state far from Tallahassee, and I find myself moved to look Edward up to see where he is and what he's doing. Of course, it's not what I expected, and I am moved to tears knowing that he long ago left us. But, again, as long as you are remembered, and Edward is truly remembered, at least by me, you are not yet gone.
My deepest condolences to his family and many loved ones.

I remember Stevie from our days at Leon High School. He was an upperclassman in the band. We marched in the Leon High School Redcoats Band. A long with Jynelle and Tim Sneed. He was so outgoing and energetic.....lots of energy.....That's how I met his beautiful sister Valerie and Cousin Marylyn. Those were the good old days of fun....... Miss you my brother "Stevie".

I can still see Edward (as I knew him) and his big smile and his big heart. He was one of the joys of Leon High Band - my sympathies go out to his family and friends. I'd like to think that if I had not moved away after high school, we would have remained good friends - it is good to know he never changed, and continued to enrich the lives of others. I have thought of him fondly over the years, and as David Rogers said, thinking of him still brings a smile. May God bless you all.

Val and Family:
I pray that you and your family will find comfort in knowing that our heavenly father Jehovah will give you strength to endure this loss. I worked with Steve at FAMU Environmental Health and Safety and he was a very nice, kind hearted and pleasant person. We all loved him and I enjoyed working with Steve. We were the best of buddies on the job and when I needed a listening ear, he was always available to hear me out. We would talk and laugh at life and all the things we were dealing with. I was so hurt when I heard that he had died. I will never forget Steve and his big SMILE. He loved his mother, you and the girls very much. He would always talk about all of you in a very positive manner. May the blessings from Jehovah be with you and your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Edward, as we knew him in high school, was one of my best friends. He played clarinet with me in the band. We laughed and played together and he kept me in stitches. We would often walk across the street together to the Lion's Den to grab a bite to eat. I know the world is now missing a very special person. Although we didn't stay close after high school, just the thought of losing Edward tears at my heart. My deepest condolences to all the family members. I know God has a special place for Edward.
