Allen SCOTT Obituary

SCOTT, Allen James, 68, of Sopchoppy and Brooksville, FL, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at his friend's home. He was born in New York and came to the area in the 1960's from Pensacola, FL. He was a U.S. Army veteran and Catholic by faith. He was an electronic technician with the Hernando County Public School System, where he retired in May 2011 after 37 years. A member and former employee of Friends of Weeki Wachee Springs, he worked in many different areas and jobs and was looking forward to the 31st Mermaid reunion in July. He was a member and technician of Tallahassee Amateur Ham Radio Association and Hernando Ham Radio Association #WD4KRS where he helped set up emergency radio systems in many counties, worked with the Florida State University Coastal and Marine Laboratory Office of Research in Tallahassee, Sand Soldiers of America and Warrior Support Services. He is survived by his special friend, Pat Strickland of Brooksville, FL; and many friends. Visitation will be 10am-Noon, Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, where services will begin at 12:00pm. Interment will follow at Brooksville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the the Friends of Weeki Wachee Springs.
