Barry S. Augenbraun

AUGENBRAUN, Barry S. 72, of Gulfport, passed away Sept. 20, 2011. Barry was born in Bronx, NY and was a graduate of Yeshiva University High School in Manhattan. He went on to graduate with a Bachelor's degree from Columbia College, a Master's degree in European History from Cambridge University, and a LL.B. from Harvard Law School. Barry had a distinguished career in business and corporate law, practicing in both New York and Philadelphia. He retired after working at Raymond James as VP of Risk Management. Barry was an active participant in his community and synagogue affairs. He served on the board of the Pinellas Jewish Federation as well as co-chairing the Jewish Community Relations Council. Barry was a scholar who read widely on many subjects, especially history and politics. He enjoyed sharing his opinions by writing letters to the editors of various newspapers and magazines. He was a devoted husband of 46 years to Janet; loving and generous father to William (Itzel) and Leslie (Steven) Goldman, and adoring grandfather to Connor. Barry is also survived by his brother Terry (Hedy); sister Cooki (Steve) Edelman; nephew Billy (Randi) Edelman; and nieces Ariel (Josh) Blacher and Fara (Benji) Hain. Services will be held at 1 pm today (Wednesday) at the David C. Gross Funeral Home in St. Petersburg. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Park in Largo.
