I went to school with Blake and remember him as a very bright person who tried hard at everything he did. I had not spoke to Blake since we graduated from high school in 1983 and wish now we had stayed in touch. I had heard from friends from Hermiston that Blake had received his teaching degree and was coaching baseball, I could not think of anything better for Blake. Blake loved sports and competition. I consider Blake a friend and will always think of him fondly. His family will be in my prayers.

I grew up right next door to Blake and remember him from the time he was a spunky tow headed 3 year old. I am just heart broken that he was taken at such a young age. My heart goes out to Blake's family and I want them to know I have such fond memories of them and of Blake.

What to feel... What to write... Charlanne, your thoughts of your brother touched my heart.
Knowing Blake, though it was years ago, was like living life through pages of poetry. As I have journeyed, I have taken with me many precious memories and enlightening moments that Blake has shared. Every life that Blake has touched, has been blessed with a sort of unspoken realness, a feeling that makes you feel - just a little bit deeper.
Dear to my heart,
Rachel

Carpe diem, to seize the moment, this was Blake's motto. Blake was one of those rare individuals who make us ponder about things, rather it be literature, a good movie, or the themes of life. In an age where poetry seems to be receding, it remained astute for Blake. Though not one for wordy conversation, when Blake spoke, you just had to listen. Most of us merely see the here and now, but some unique individuals such as Blake see beyond the practicalities of life and evolve into life itself. I will miss our conversations and discussions. I will miss getting his "read" on a situation. I will miss his interpretation and wonderment of a beautiful autumn day in the pacific northwest...I will miss his wonderful stories of his two daughters, Hannah and Ally, who he expressed as the most precious pieces of life to him. I miss him already...I always will...
I know you are probably looking at us from Heaven saying, "it's ok, I am now in that place of peace, and knowing, and love we all aspire to be someday...
your sister, Charlanne

Uncle Blake was a great guy. His older sister sister, Susan Sappington, was my mother. We just lost my mother last year and it is very sad to lose another member of the family so soon. My mother and my Aunts adored Blake so much. I've heard many stories. My precious memory of him is when he came to visit Grandma when Hannah was just born. He taught me a really good card trick that I still do for people to this day. He also taught me how to braid his hair when he had this long pony tail. lol. The last time I saw him was when I introduced him to my daughter. The time before that was at my mothers funeral.. which is what brought him back to reconnect with the family. Having him back shined this great light over my family. We were all overwhelmed with happiness. He has raised 2 great girls. My cousins Hannah and Alley I will still try to stay in touch. I will miss you Uncle Blake...but now I know he is happy up in Heaven with my mother and is now reunited with his dad, Grandpa Sappington. Rest in Peace. Love, your niece Erica Hafen.

Light comes from the spirit and ignites the flame of our hearts,
but like the candle that flickers and dies, sending tendrils of smoke into the heavens, so too does our earthly life, and our spirit rises once more to ignite our soul in heaven, to always be present to those whom we love in the blanket of light that is life.
Blake's spirit lives on in those of us who knew him and worked with him. He was inspiring and rich in spirit; he will be extremely missed.

I was truly blest by knowing and working with Blake at BMCHS. He was an honest, caring person that I could always count on.
He was a connoisseur of coffee, and, in brief conversations, we shared our taste experiences and tips on newly found coffees and long-time favororites.
My sympathy and prayers go to his family. I will miss this wonderful man and friend, and thank our Lord for the opportunity of knowing him.

Words cannot describe my thoughts right now. Thank you for the awesome memories and words of wisdom you left me to ponder. You were truly unique, an individual that comes maybe once in a lifetime. I am blessed to have known you, to have learned under you, and to have listened to your words time and time again. God bless you, Mr. Rahman, and may you always remain in our hearts.
