Henry Evans, MD MD

of Jensen Beach, FL, passed away peacefully at the age 86 on April 25, 2025.

He is survived by his wife, Melinda "Lindi" Kay Newman; her sister, Ellen Michele Clark; son, Michael Huey; their daughter, Brittany Holdy (Tim Holdy) and their two children. He is also survived by his former spouse, Dorothy J. Newman, the mother of their four children: David Newman, Jennifer Noyes (Dave Noyes), Jonathan Newman.

He is predeceased by his parents, Dr. William H. Newman and Christine M. Newman; sister, Rebecca Newman Simms; and his brother, Dr. William H. Newman III.

Born in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, Henry enjoyed restoring antique cars with his father as a young boy. His father nicknamed him "Hank" after his mechanic up the street, because he was good with his hands. He graduated from Wyoming Seminary, Gettysburg College, and Thomas Jefferson University Medical School. During his residency, he served in the US Navy, and was stationed in Charleston, South Carolina.

From the 1970s to the 1990s, Dr. Newman lived in St. Petersburg, Florida with his family. There he served the community as cardiologist at the St. Petersburg Medical Clinic and as president of the Florida Chapter of the American Heart Association. Patients loved him for his passion for medicine and patient bedside manner. Also in St. Petersburg, he was a devoted member of Christ United Methodist Church, and regularly participated in antique car shows with his collection of fully restored antique cars.

In retirement, he and Lindi moved to Clayton, Georgia, where they were members of Clayton Presbyterian Church. At that time, he earned a degree in horology, and started a business named "Doc's Clocks" to restore clocks. Hundreds of families in the surrounding area had their treasured family clocks returned to life by Henry's passion.
