Mr Henry was my Pony League baseball coach at Mustang Pony League around 1964. Our team´s sponsor was The Tampa Tribune (ironically, where I worked in Sports Department for four years later). Our daily practices were at what has become Raymond James Stadium. We had a good team - Coach Henry was a very knowledgeable baseball "teacher." He was always kind and supportive of every player. I remember that occasionally, little Todd and Mom Sylvia would visit practice. I was always impressed by how beautiful Coach Henry´s family was. May his memory continue in the spirit of his grace and generosity for those who knew him.

Every time I think about Mr. Henry I always smile. And I am smiling right now! He made quite a positive impact on so many of us!

Loved Mr. Henry! When I was in first grade, a friend´s thermos cap was on too tight, so I took it up to the teachers table to ask our teacher to open. She couldn´t get loose, so sent me to Mr Henry at the far end of the teacher´s table. He promptly opened with a smile. The next day at lunch, I tightened both our thermos caps so we could repeat the experience! Our teacher sent notes home asking our mothers to please not put our thermos caps on so tight, which baffled them! Thank you Mr Henry for making Mendenhall such a good elementary school. We got such a good foundation there.

Mr. Henry was my 6th grade teacher at Mendenhall Elementary School. He encouraged a shy girl to recite poetry in front of the class and cheered her on. He also kissed my cheek when distributing report cards after I earned all A's. He was a great teacher who encouraged learning and personal growth. I had an opportunity to thank him for that about 5 years ago when I ran into him shopping at Publix! Rest easy, Mr. Henry.
