Jimmy Biggerstaff Obituary

BIGGERSTAFF, Jimmy Joe 70, of St. Petersburg, went home with Jesus on April 16th, 2011. Born in Brazil, IN, on July 21, 1940, Jimmy was the first child of Lena Gerber Biggerstaff and Raleigh E. Biggerstaff. Jimmy graduated Brazil High School in 1959 and IUN in Gary, IN, in 1962. He was a Christian and member of the United Brethren Church of Brazil, IN. He married his wife, Judy, in 1962 and shared 49 wonderful years together along with their three boys. He became a Master Mason through the Dunes Blue Lodge No. 741 in Portage, IN. He was also a 32nd degree consistory in South Bend, IN. He was also a member of the NAACP. He was employed by the United States Steelworkers of America for 30 years and served Local 1014 on the grievance committee. He retired and moved from Valparaiso, IN, to St. Petersburg in 1986 and served as president of the Disston Heights neighborhood for 3 years. He also served as the president of Cona from 1999 to 2001. Predeceased by his parents, Jimmy is survived by his loving wife Judy and their three sons Tim (Beverly) Biggerstaff of St. Petersburg, Keith (Christy) Biggerstaff of Valparaiso, IN and David (Kathy) Biggerstaff of Dunnellon, and three grandchildren Ryan, Gavin, and Kaylee Biggerstaff. He is also survived by his sister Janet Mae (Philip) Whysong; brother Danny (Janet) Biggerstaff; three aunts Betty, Pauline, and Eva along with numerous nieces and nephews. Jim had many interests which included fishing, antiquing, and eBay selling. He was active in his community and was always willing to help when asked. He'll be truly missed by all who knew him. A visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 20th from 10 am until service time at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
