John LODER Obituary

LODER, John William Sr.

51, of St. Petersburg, passed early morning, May 13, 2018. John was born in Woodbury, NJ to Bill and Dolores Loder, the youngest of their five children. They relocated to Madeira Beach, FL when he was two. John found quickly at an early age that he loved working alongside his family at their family seafood restaurant, Captain Bill's. He loved being at the restaurant so much that he asked his parents to leave school to work full time with his family. He would tell people with pride he was a seventh grade graduate of Madeira Beach Middle School. He was fondly remembered for shucking oysters and playful banter with customers before he was old enough to drive. In the early 80s, the family opened Crabby Bills Seafood in Indian Rocks Beach. After the family sold Crabby Bills in 1995, Johnny ventured successfully into the Cigar Industry. He was co-founder of Nicks Cigars, now known as Perdomo Cigars. In the 2000s he also found success in several real estate development projects. His most recent endeavor brought him back to his restaurant roots and he opened Captain Bill's Beach Kitchen in Treasure Island. He sincerely enjoyed good times with his customers and longtime friends. Johnny had his share of highs and lows in life but his greatest accomplishments were his children; Johnny Jr. and his daughter, Taylor. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Dolores and George "Crabby Bill" Loder; brother, George and sister, Dolores "Cookie" White. He leaves behind his children, Johnny and Taylor; his partner, Debra Faust; brother, Matt (Maria); sister, Eleanor "Ellie" (Paul) Jenkins and sister-in-law, Valerie (George) Loder. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and countless friends that he loved dearly. He will be deeply missed. We take comfort in knowing he is in Heaven at a table filled with loved ones enjoying steamed jumbo blue crabs. In lieu of flowers, donations to Partnership for a Drug Free America (DFAF.org) are appreciated. Please visit: www.gardensanctuaryfunerals.com to place tributes.
