I am sorry for your loss. You will miss him a lot. But as Christians we can always find comfort in the knowledge that Johnny is now in heaven and is healthy and happy. One day all of you will be reunited with him in heaven. May God grant you the peace that you and your family need at this time.

I knew John for over 30 years, as a church member, Plant High grad, sponsor and fan, a warmly welcoming host at the restaurant, and most recently as an extended family member, following the marriage of his beautiful daughter Maria to my cousin Mike Xenick. I will always remember his gentle nature and warmth, his genuine pleasure at our occasional meeting, and especially his kindness to my mother after my dad's passing. He was a true "gentle man" and a Tampa treasure. Rest in peace, John, and God bless you always. With love to the whole family,

So sorry to hear about John's passing on. He was a true friend. When I first arrived in Tampa, John was the first person to befriend me. He told me about the football program at Plant High School and when training started, and was instrumental in getting me enrolled in the program. I will always remember his friendly smile.

Although through the years our paths have not frequently crossed Johnny was always the same. From the days at Plant,Tampa University, the restaurant and at reunions for the class of '57 Johnny was always kind, gentle and loving. All us who have come to know him have been blessed. Our love and prayers are with his family.

I know I echo my siblings/family's sentiments when I tell you what grief and sadness I have felt in learning about your father's illness and death. Your family has always been a part of our lives and it is hard for me to imagine him not being there. Such a jovial and larger than life man. From the carpools to just walking over and visiting. I know that our lives have gone is such far and different directions, but you are always in my thoughts and prayers. Luckily, the circle of life has and will bring about new ways to remember him. My sincerest regrets and prayers.--Ivette

In my journey through this vale of tears I may have met a small number of people who are as generous, kind, and gracious as Johnny, but none who were more so. And most of the others have had about them an air of some special sanctity, so that one would be very conscious of what language to use in their company. One of the hallmarks of John's humanity is that he was such a regular guy, made everylone comfortable in his presence, and yet he still embodied every imaginable characteristic of a fine, decent, upstanding human being.

John was like no other person I have ever met! He was so kind, compassionate, caring, and loving! I was blessed to know him when I was just a lad of 18! I lived for a while above the restaraunt and he was my landlord and eventually I came to understand that he was an incredible man who I wish to this day that I could be like him! John was always teaching and every conversation that I had with him he would always give me some sage advise as to help guide me and lead me in the proper direction! What a leader and wonderful person he was. I am honored and blessed to have known him and I am praying for his family, friends, and the community at this very difficult time. Without question we will see John again in heaven

My deepest sympathy goes out to the entire family and all of John's many friends. He will be greatly missed. He always made me feel welcome and appreciated and always treated others with dignity and respect. I admired his integrity and the way he did business. As his sales rep. for the restaurant, he made me feel like a friend. I felt a real sense of loss when the restaurant closed, but knew we would keep in touch. And we did. I feel honored for having that opportunity. He will be missed.

God Bless.

I am deeply saddened to hear of this great loss. I met Mr. Palios as a patient at Bay Area Oncology. He was always so concerned about me and I absolutely loved spending time with him in the office. He made me laugh and forget about why I was there and I tried to do the same for him. I know he is in a better place;free of illness and pain, but I sure am going to miss him. My thoughts are with his wonderful family.

John introduced me to sports many years ago at Hyde Park Playground and was the big brother / father figure I needed at that time. He was there at my side when at 17 I lost my mother. When they made the word friend they used John as the model.
