Michael SHANK Obituary
"Mike" 58, of St. Petersburg, passed away Jan. 5, 2016 at Suncoast Hospice, Mid-Pinellas, after a brief illness. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Phyllis; brother, John; and niece, Katie. He spent his formative years in Grosse Pointe, MI, and the family moved to Florida in the early 1970s. Mike graduated from Boca Ciega High School in 1975 and married the love of his life, Francine, in 1979. Together they started their landscape maintenance business, AAA-1 Enterprises, in 1984, and won many beautification awards. Mike's additional joys in life were riding his Harley Davidson, fishing, gardening, his trucks and his two dogs, Harley and Princess. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Fran; and his twin sister, Lynda. Mike will be missed for his charisma, sense of humor and friendship. His memorial service will be Saturday, Jan. 9, at 2 pm with a reception immediately following; both at Anderson McQueen, 7820 38th Avenue North, St. Petersburg. Mike: You were a stand up guy at a time when I realized, much to my pain and disillusionment, that most guys aren't. I can take a small measure of comfort in your passing by knowing that, after all those years and only just last week- I finally got to talk to you and thank you for your selfless act of courage and integrity.
