Richard Johnson Obituary



JOHNSON, Richard E., 78, of Sebring, Fla., passed away Thursday, May 12, 2011, at home. He was born

in Meadville, Pa., July 5, 1932, son of William A. and Alice I. Johnson. On August 9, 1968, he married M. Margaret (Peg) Payne, who survives him. While in Meadville, Richard worked at America Viscose (Avtex) for 19 years, Call Tool and Saegertown Manufacturing. After moving to Sebring, he and his wife operated a lawn care and home maintenance business. Richard was affiliated with Grace Bible Church in Sebring and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Kenneth Johnson of Sebring, David Johnson of Clermont, Fla., and Brian Johnson of Sebring; seven grand-children, Lauren, Nicole, Halie, Jolie, Tyler, Zachary and Cody; and one sister, Charlotte (Bob) Sutliff of Meadville. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Leonard Johnson and Kenneth Johnson; and two sisters, Maxine Edge and Elsie Gustafson. According to Richard's wishes, cremation was chosen and there will be no calling hours. A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at Grace Bible Church, to honor his life.
