Robert Rainey Obituary

RAINEY, Robert B., born in Atlanta, Georgia, November 21, 1941 , died in Lithia, Florida, October 30, 2014. He is survived by: Adel C. Rainey, his wife of 51 years; three sons, R. Marshall Rainey (Doris), T. Patrick Rainey (Marjorie), and Sgt.Charles K. Rainey (U.S. Army Ret.) (Trish); nine granddaughters Virginia, Hannah, Allison, Kiersten, Jordan, Kendrick, Maya, Jade, and Kylie; five grandsons Matthew, Alex, Josh, Tyler and Gaige; and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime family friends. The family would like to give special thanks to the loving care provided by LifePath Hospice (Sally Bailey, R.N. and Tracie Conroy, LPN), and St. Stephen Catholic Church (Fr. Emery, Deacon Dan, and Lynne Henderson). Bob, Dad, Granpa, or Pops as he was known by many, was and will always be remembered and loved as the patriarch of the Rainey Family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, Scout Master, baseball coach and amateur builder/designer. Bob graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration (1967) from Georgia State University. He sold John Deere industrial equipment for Tampa Tractor, later Nortrax Machinery, for most of his career, and loved every minute as he experienced the growth and transformation of the Tampa Bay Area. He was active in his church activities, President of his sons' Little League, and most of all a doting grandfather to fourteen grandchildren. Perhaps his single greatest love, besides his family, was his summer home in Waynesville, N.C. where he happily resided, hiked, and traveled the mountains for many months of his final decade. He will be honored, loved and remembered eternally by those who knew him. Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Serenity Meadows, Riverview, Florida. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014 at 10:30 AM, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, Valrico, Florida. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to LifePath Hospice, 3010 W. Azeele St., Tampa 33609; or The Wounded Warrior Project at: WoundedWarri orProject.org.
