She will be missed by her family and the patients that she healed and provided care for during her 27 years of medical practice at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg. Dr. Perlman was an Associate Professor of Pediatrics, University of South Florida, based at All Children's Hospital.

Dr. Perlman was born June 30, 1953 to her parents, Abe and Edythe. She was raised in Weehawken, NJ, and graduated from Bard College in upstate New York. She moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1988 with her husband, Ron. Dr. Perlman received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. She was the Chief Resident in Pediatrics at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA, and completed her fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, Philadelphia, PA. She joined the University of South Florida Division of Pediatrics in 1994, and served as the Medical Director of the End Stage Renal Disease Program at All Children's Hospital. Dr. Perlman was extremely active in the leadership of the American Society of Pediatric Nephrologists (ASPN). Her last position was President-Elect of ASPN. She also was on the Board of the Renal Physician's Association and participated in many research projects undertaken by these two nationally recognized groups.

Dr. Perlman is survived by her loving and adoring husband, Ron Frankel; and two daughters, Jaymie (Tracy) and Meagen (Dom). She leaves two beautiful grandchildren, Jackson and Allison. She will be missed by her ever supporting sisters, Lauren (Mike, deceased), and Robin P. (Robin W.), and their children, Mark (Danielle), Debbie (Tom), Stephen (Evonne), Eric, and Michelle as well as many nephews and nieces.

The family wants to thank Dr. LaPolla and his staff at Women's Care of Florida for providing care for Dr. Perlman over an extensive period of time, and always being there for her during her illness. Also thank you to Dr. Kevin Ache, Empath Health, and the Silver Team, Suncoast Hospice, for its excellent care. Sharon was an avid adventurer and scuba diver. She traveled the world, mostly to explore the undersea treasures. She rescued greyhounds and was part of the initial Pet Therapy Program with her greyhounds at All Children's Hospital, bringing joy to the patients and staff. Sharon was also an active member of the Academy of Senior Professionals at Eckerd College. She will be missed by all that knew her professionally and socially.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am Monday, December 19, at Temple Beth-El, 400 Pasadena Ave. S., St. Petersburg. Interment will follow at Sarasota National Cemetery. Dr Perlman's passing is heartfelt loss. I only knew her to say 'hello' at work at All Children's Hospital, but her medical expertise and dedication and heart, were common knowledge throughout. Dr Perlman gave a better future to her patients, as well as to All Children's Hospital.
My sympathies to her family, and all who miss her.

Dr. Perlman was a wonderful, giving and caring woman. She cared for my grandson, prior to his passing, while he was a patient at All Children's Hospital. I don't know what we would have done without her. She guided us through a devastating time and held our hands and hearts. She was a one of a kind giving her all. Having her there for our grandson, Maverick, was a privilege. I will never forget her. Please accept my deepest sympathy on your great loss. God bless you and keep His arms around you.
