Allan Klotsche Obituary

ALLAN JOHN KLOTSCHE SR. Allan John Klotsche Sr., 73, of Vero Beach, FL, entered into eternal life March 28, 2013. Allan was born on November 8, 1939 to parents, Dr. J. Martin & Roberta (Roberts) Klotsche. Allan began his career as an independent insurance agent, which eventually led to the formation of Gollusch, Klotsche & Hiller, a Milwaukee-based agency which he later sold to Willis Corroon. Allan continued his career with Willis Corroon as the director of their Milwaukee operations, and later served as president and chief executive officer of Willis Corroon Minnesota. Beyond work, Allan was passionate about giving back to others. While living in Milwaukee, Allan was very involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS), serving on their board and as chairman. Upon retirement and his move to Vero Beach in 1993, Allan continued his devotion to serving others. He was surprised there was no local BBBS chapter, and decided to start one. Allan's special involvement in the lives of his "Little Brothers" led to the adoption of his son, Brandon Phillips Klotsche, as well as weekly mentoring with Brantavius Valliere. Allan also was a faithful servant of Our Savior Lutheran Church and became an ordained Deacon in 2009. Upon becoming ordained, Allan actively served on the ELCA Florida-Bahamas Synod Council. Through his involvement in the community, Allan also became involved in Haiti Partners, a non-profit focused on helping Haitians change Haiti through education. Allan is survived by his loving children; son, Allan John (Mary) Klotsche Jr. of Milwaukee, daughter, Wendy (Kevin) Orthober of Cedarburg, WI and son, Brandon Phillips Klotsche of Vero Beach; cherished grandchildren, Allan John Klotsche III, Christopher Klotsche, Kaitlyn Kohler, Kristina Orthober, and Jacob Orthober; loving brothers, John Chester Klotsche of Santa Barbara, CA and Charles Martin Klotsche of Palm Beach, FL. Memorial services will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1439 6th Avenue, Vero Beach, April 2, 2013 at 4:30 pm, with reception to follow in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Big Brothers Big Sisters - St. Lucie County, Inc. An online guestbook is available at www.lowtherfuneralhome.com Paid Obituary

I got to know Allan playing tennis here in Vero Beach. For a big man, he could really cover ground and possessed such a vibrant personality. As his obituary shows, he had a huge heart, not talking the walk but really walking the walk, giving of himself to Big Brothers events and way beyond.

I haven't had contact with Allan for the last year or so, and am so stunned and saddened by his passing. My heart goes out to his wife, his children and to the rest of his family - he left us far too soon, but will never be forgotten.

I got to know Allan while working with Brandon through the Guardian ad litem program and saw them up until Brandon's adoption. He was a very nice man and my thoughts and prayer go to Brandon and the rest of his family.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Allan. He was one of the nicest individuals that I had the pleasure of working with. Allan was one of the main reasons I came to work at Willis, and I am so glad I did.

Heaven has a new angel.

So sad to hear that the world lost a beautiful human being,...Alan was a dear friend and colleague,..always willing to help and listen!! He was a great and warm soul during the time we lost our youngest son when, as usual, he showed that he cared very much about all people,...especially those in need,...I am sorry to hear of his passing,...he had so much more love to give left in his heart! Where he is now, I am sure he will embrace us all with his love and kindness.

My deepest sympathy to Brandon and Brantivius and Mary, and the rest of the Klotsche Klan. For some years, Allan has been my best friend in Vero Beach and we have enjoyed organizing events to raise funds for the less fortunate around us. Formal dances. Tennis tournaments. And dinner parties. All to benefit the children served Big Brothers / Big Sisters and the Boys and Girls Clubs.
An editorial will appear shortly in the Vero Beachside News.

Alan and I worked together for a long time. He was always very interested in the well being of all staff members and was willing to assist as needed. He will certainly be missed by all of his friends and associates in the Minneapolis community.

Allan was a fine man with a good heart. I know he really enjoyed mentoring young people. I would not be where I am today if it were not for Allan hiring me. Rest in Peace, Friend.

Allan was one of the finest gentlemen , I have ever known. His word was as good as gold. I could always count on him to give me a straight answer. He was a straight shooter. I was fortunate to work with Allan.

Allan was one of the people who recruited me to Willis in 1997. He was always helpful, supportive, and sincere in his commitment to our group. Allan made his way north two years ago to celebrate the promotion of one of our colleagues. His talk was wonderful. We will miss Allan and his personable approach to all with whom he worked and interacted.

Alan hired me as office assistant in the Willis Minneapolis office. When I thanked him he said "don't be silly - it is our pleasure to have you." I never forgot this and it shows the attitude he had toward his staff. He always
laughed at my jokes and I appreciated that, too. Alan was a charming, pleasant man and I and I am happy I had the opportunity to work with him.
