Frederick Roth Obituary

Frederick "Fritz" Roth Sr., 91, died Aug. 18, 2009, at Sebastian River Medical Center, Sebastian. He was born in Transylvania and lived in Vero Beach since 1962. He graduated from Salem High School and attended Ohio State University. He transferred to the University of Washington, graduating with a bachelor's degree in forestry. He received his master's degree in industrial arts education at Kent University. He joined the faculty at Vero Beach High School in 1962, retiring in 1980. He was a founding member and elder of First Presbyterian Church of Sebastian. His woodworking skills are evident throughout the church and his proudest accomplishment is the sanctuary cross. Survivors include his daughters, Marci LaBounty and Candy Bush, both of Columbia, S.C., and Paula Herriott of Miami; sons, Rick Roth of West Palm Beach and Kris Roth of Columbia; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 781689, Sebastian, FL 32978. SERVICES: A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 6 at the First Presbyterian Church, Sebastian, with the Rev. Ellie Lea officiating. Arrangements by Strunk Funeral Home & Crematory, Sebastian.
